13 May - Webinar on Debt Accountability and Transparency to Domestic Stakeholders
Jose Maurel and Matthew Martin of DFI conducted a webinar for staff of the UK and Norwegian governments, on Debt Accountability and Transparency to Domestic Stakeholders. The webinar presented the lessons of the study conducted for IBP in 2024 on this issue, as well as DFI’s subsequent continued engagement on these issues. It assessed best practice throughout the debt strategy and management cycle, and urged development partners to prioritise this issue through comprehensive country-level projects bringing governments and other stakeholders together to design national accountability and transparency frameworks. The webinar was part of a series of events briefing the UK government on debt issues in the buildup to its 2027 UK G20 Presidency, and also followed on from the Norwegian government’s decision to make debt accountability and transparency one of its top priorities for global development.
