Follow Up Missions provide an opportunity to review country progress during a project cycle, and provide intensive assistance on specific aspects of implementation. Ideally they take place when data collection is well advanced, to help orient the National Taskforce towards closing the project cycle. However from time to time they may be necessary earlier on in the process, such as when countries experience significant institutional or other challenges that put the project off-track.

Thus, the terms of reference are not generic, as they would need to be tailored to the specific set of challenges a country may be encountering.

Tasks addressed during such a mission might include reviewing and reinforcing institutional arrangements.

They also address monitoring, analysis and policy issues such as:

• Reviewing quality of data obtained from surveys and other sources
• Updating or improving the investor register
• Providing focussed training in areas of weak capacity
• Collecting more private sector responses from the field or via office estimation
• Reviewing software - programming, processing and checking data
• Reviewing preliminary data output
• Providing training and advice on analytical and policy recommendations
• Preparations for analysis and report writing
• Planning towards the dissemination event

The mission would also update country capacity evaluation scores.
