BWI Medium Term Debt Strategies

The IMF and World Bank have jointly developed a Medium-term Debt Strategy (MTDS) framework for country-led development of a debt strategy, reflecting fiscal and monetary constraints and the government’s trade-off between portfolio costs and risks.   The key inputs to using this analytical tool are the country’s portfolio of external and domestic debt, its new external and domestic borrowing strategies, its macroeconomic projections and market scenarios of anticipated interest and exchange rates.
