Distance learning programme

The distance learning programme is intended to complement the existing well-established DFI capacity building programme of face-to-face workshops and events. This programme enables in-country study, so that key personnel do not have to be away from their posts, and allows for more and flexible study time for the practice and consolidation of skills than is possible in a face-to-face workshop.

The study modules cover all aspects of external and domestic strategy analysis and can be studied following a specific pathway or individually.

The key elements of the programme are:

  • Allows for tailored made capacity development of individuals or groups
  • Enhanced learning experience through mentor feedback and comments
  • Study modules are available in four languages: English, French, Spanish and Portuguese
  • There are currently 14 study modules covering all aspects of external and domestic debt strategy analysis, with new modules planned to cover (i) credit ratings, accessing sovereign bond markets and syndicated/other commercial loans, (ii) multilateral and bilateral nonconcessional financing instruments and (iii) basic risk indicators and analysis
  • Residential workshop options are available for final Study Modules 9 and 14
